We quiz founder of Elegant Introductions dating service, Hilary Jones.

1. What do you do?

We bring love and happiness into peoples lives!

We run an Introduction Agency for busy professionals from the age of 30+, our oldest client is a young 71!

We cover the Borders, down to North Yorkshire and across to Cumbria, however, we’ve recently matched a local lady with a gentleman in Tenerife.

2. What does your average day comprise?

Lots of contact with clients, either over the telephone, or face to face interviews if they are a new client. 

It’s a long day, we work from 10am to 8pm, and sometimes longer.

3. What makes you tick?

New business and meeting new clients – I love it.

4. What makes the North East the best place to do business in?

The people. Whether it’s people we do business with or our clients, they’re just the best.

5. What is the best piece of business advice that you’ve received?

Guidance from Sir Alan Sugar, prior to start-up and ‘nothing is ever off the record’ when talking to the press.

6. And the worst?

That Elegant Introductions won’t work in the North East. It has.

7. What is your dream job?

This has to be it.

8. What is your greatest achievement?

Beating cancer in 2000 when I was given just three months to live and setting up a new business in my mid 50’s

9. What do you like about the North East?

The people – the scenery – easy access to our beautiful beaches and the countryside and some of the most beautiful cities in the UK.

10.  Do you have any tips?

Get expert help – they can do in minutes what can take you hours.

11.  How do you juggle work and home life?

I love working from home but it’s all too easy to spend too much time in the office, especially when it’s something you enjoy. 

It’s great not having to face the morning traffic and being able to spend more time with my partner Bruce.
