home Frank and Evelyn

On 13 November 2005, Frank Waling and Evelyn Wakefield were married at the Rushpool Hall Hotel in Skelton.

Nothing unusual about that you might think.

But it may come as a surprise that Frank is 77 and Evelyn is 76!

Frank and Evelyn, and their respective families, had been friends for quite some time, living in the village of Charltons, and when Frank’s wife passed away some five years ago, Evelyn took him under her wing to help him get over his loss.

In the subsequent years, their friendship blossomed and they grew closer together.

Then out of the blue, Frank told Evelyn that she had made him feel the happiest he had been in his life and asked her if she would do him the honour of marrying him.

Evelyn gladly agreed.

After they had tied the knot, the couple spent their wedding night at Rushpool Hall, before being chauffeur driven to Heathrow flying to Canada, for a two week honeymoon.

On the couple's return, they took up residence in Skelton to begin married life together.

Evelyn, prior to moving to Skelton some years ago, was very active in the village life in Charltons.

She was born in Skelton Green, and has four grandchildren and one grandchild.

Frank, until recently a resident of Charltons, has served for over 30 years in a voluntary capacity with the Red Cross and remains an examiner.

He has two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and was born in Ormesby.

We wish them both all the best for the future and hope they will be as happy together married, as they were as friends.
