Find out about the latest cool shopping place in the North East

The Pink Lane area of NewcastleGateshead is billed as the fashionable, new place to shop.

The rejuvenated area has a palpable energy and cool, creative buzz - very like London's Hoxton or even New York's Soho – and offers a unique place to shop and relax.

Located close to Newcastle Central Station, Pink Lane includes the following stores: Space - selling contemporary home ware with a retro twist; Shelf - funky, fashion labels from around the world; Alt-vinyl - rare, imported and limited vinyl and CDs; Electriksheep - an eclectic mix of books, magazines and artwork from some of the best graphic artists in the world; Retro City - unique and vintage clothes and nitro - selling exclusive designer labels.

Karen Stone, owner and manager of Space, says: "Pink Lane offers a cluster of cool and contemporary design-led businesses in close proximity.

"Each business offers something a bit different and we hope that we'll attract growing numbers of fashion and design-conscious shoppers who'll be able to buy everything from contemporary ceramics and designer street wear to vintage vinyl - all in one compact area.

We're also in the process of organising a series of design events and exhibitions this

"summer to profile local talent and create a buzz about design in NewcastleGateshead. Plans include a new designers' fair and graphic design exhibitions curated by local designers."

The Pink Lane like-minded entrepreneurs are working in partnership, and have produced a joint promotional flyer which highlights each unique, design-led business and its location.

The leaflets are currently being distributed widely throughout NewcastleGateshead.
